Bastet is the offspring of Ra, the sun god, she is known and worshipped for the protection of the home, domesticity, women's secrets, cats, fertility, childbirth and from disease and pestilence.
Cats were regarded by the Kem (ancient Egyptian peoples) as spiritual animals that protected temples and houses from possible diseases spread from rodents, also cats would quickly dispatch venomous snakes, consequently the Goddess "Bastet" was related to cats.
Praise be to Bastet.
